With this name, the company fulfills its mission. “Adding value by infusing period architecture with the modern lifestyle” is more than the mission statement of Touch of Distinction.  Every project brought to task with our company receives the utmost attention.  With this in mind, Touch of Distinction has grown in popularity with home and property owners over the years. To date, Touch of Distinction has performed over 2,000 consultations. It is involved with five elements of architecture:

  1. Color consultation that make use of period appropriate colors and design.
  2. Faux painting: including marbleizing, stenciling, color washes and other effects. As well this company does plain painting of both exteriors and interiors
  3. Renovation planning for: kitchens, bathrooms and other rooms.
  4. Design of room additions that include period garages, pergolas, porches and etc.
  5. Period landscape design.

Our Color Consultations make use of three interest types:

  1. Period Color Consultations – which allow us to excel in our knowledge of what colors are appropriate for particular styles of homes and buildings.  Whether they are old or new properties, part of the mystique of good design includes the correct use of color to enhance overall details.
  2. Historic Color Consultations -  have made us prime consultants with the State office of Historic Preservation and local Landmarks Commissions.  Analysis of original colors and the knowledge about color and design detailing make our consultations invaluable to those who care about correct colors and details.
  3. New Color Consultations -  for modern homes and commercial properties allow us to enhance the beauty and drama of today’s architecture.  A number of our projects may be seen in the Country Club Plaza, Wesport Commercial District, and Commercial districts in St. Joseph, MO and Lincoln, NB.
Clients refer to these consultations and designs as being both innovative and period appropriate. A number of these color schemes and renovations exist in historic districts in: St. Joseph, Kansas City, Independence, and Nevada, Missouri. They include such properties as the Bingham Wagner Freight House, interior renovation planning for the Thomas Hart Benton Home and Museum and preservation planning for the Buchanan County Courthouse.
